Intro to Visual Art Sophomores |
This course introduces students to the formal elements of design, such as line, color and space, and design principals including contrast, repetition, balance and unity. These concepts are explored through both diverse instruction and hands on projects. Students learn basic drawing skills, maintain a sketchbook, and creative problem-solving in a multimedia and multidimensional approach. Intro to Web & Flash 301 |
Creating that perfect combination of visual appeal and usability is what web designers do for a living. By using type (lettering), images, and other visual devices, web designers create a digital playground where consumers can find the information they need while enjoying the ride. Students will learn how to use visual devices – such as typography, images, and color – to communicate, educate, and persuade. Part artist, part computer buff; you’ll need to master a variety of software programs, from HTML to web design and animation design tools. This program introduces the student to the basic concepts used in crafting digital images. Discussions include camera, lens, and equipment options available to photographers. Multimedia Portfolio Development in I-401 |
Students will be encouraged to explore both contemporary and traditional art forms while honing their conceptual and image-making skills. They will look at materials and process, developing the artistic skills needed to realize their ideas. Projects are designed to encourage exploration, questioning and risk taking.
