Vice Principal for Innovation Academies

 

TITLE:   VICE PRINCIPAL FOR INNOVATION ACADEMIES                                                             
 
REPORTS TO:
The Principal of High School.
 
SUPERVISES:
All academic and vocational teachers assigned to the Innovation Academy and the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
 
JOB GOAL:
To provide overall leadership and coordination for all aspects of the LEAD innovation Academy and the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, and to ensure efficient, consistent, and ongoing success for enrolled students.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
       1.            Supervises all academic and vocational teachers assigned to the LEAD Innovation Academy and the Academy for Visual and Performing Arts
       2.            Works closely with the Director of Academics to ensure adherence to Common Core Assessment Standards, and to ensure projects and activities are designed to master standards.
       3.            Ensures adherence to Chapter 74 regulations and the MA Vocational Frameworks
       4.            Oversees behavior management for all academy students
       5.            Evaluates personnel
       6.            Sources, writes, and implements grants designed to support operation of the academies
       7.            Evaluates the performance of individual vocational programs, and the academies as a whole
       8.            Works closely with the Director of Guidance to ensure students are properly placed through the academy model
       9.            Meets weekly with teachers to coordinate efforts and collaboration
    10.            Ensures all students have a career and college readiness plan and portfolio
    11.            Oversees the Senior Project Initiative within the academy model
    12.            Reviews and recommends budgets
    13.            Ensures adherence to District and state purchasing procedures
    14.            All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
 
EVALUATION:
The Principal will evaluate the performance of this position.

Certification Requirements:  
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. The Vice Principal for Innovation Academies shall have a minimum of a Master’s Degree.
  2. The candidate must possess a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Chapter 74 Principal/Assistant Principal.
  3. Previous experience as a Chapter 74 administrator.
  4. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  5. Proven dedication to working with students from both urban and suburban backgrounds.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Experience Requirements:  
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Coordinator of Cooperative Education-Part Time

 

TITLE:  Coordinator of Cooperative Education (Part-time)
 
 
JOB GOAL:
To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to maximize workplace learning for all students
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
       1.            Develop job sites for the placement of students in a cooperative education program as specified by Chapter 74 guidelines.
       2.            Develop and perform a recruitment strategy for new co-op placement sites and collaboration with local Workforce Investment Board and Chamber of Commerce
       3.            Initiate career education activities.
       4.            Complete all placement reports required by the School Committee and Department of Education.
       5.            Conduct surveys and compile labor market data to evaluate the need for particular programs.
       6.            Develop a plan for teaching and evaluating work responsibility skills.
       7.            Develop and assist Special Education Director with transitional career services
       8.            Provide career education information and coordinate career education programs.
       9.            Work with the Department of Employment and training, the regional Employment Board, and other community agencies involved in placing students in jobs.
    10.            Identify cooperative education job sites and provide all pertinent information to vocational instructors, cooperative education students and employers.
    11.            Assist in the identification and selection of cooperative education students using student career plans
    12.            Complete all of the required cooperative education forms and maintain accurate records including student attendance, grades, cycle reports and work performance, including summertime co-op programs and students, and communicate with vocational instructors.
    13.            Conduct visits and coordinate scheduled faculty visits to cooperative education placement sites.
    14.            Maintain site visit forms and other records to ensure that the cooperative education experience contributes to the student’s education and employability.
    15.            Serves as a communication conduit between the school and cooperative education employers on issues relating to student preparation for work. Follow-up on identified issues with students and instructors.
    16.            Provide placement information and services to students as assigned by the Pupil Personnel Services Coordinator.
    17.            Coordinates the placement program.
    18.            Provides work permits for non-co-op students.
    19.            Participates in staff and faculty meetings.
    20.            Participates in the evaluation process.
    21.            Provide other tasks as may be assigned.

School Psychologist

 

Reports to The Director of  Special Education
 
JOB GOAL:
To advocate for students.  To counsel, consult, and collaborate with students, parents and school staff.  To support students’ achievement and overall well-being. To provide students with information based on educational and psychological assessment to assist in the development of appropriate educational plans.  To complete cognitive, behavioral and emotional assessments for initial and re-evaluation in compliance with Chapter 766.  To assist students plan and prepare for future endeavors in career, academic, personal and social areas.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION ACTIVITIES:
  1. Conducts individual assessments for the purpose of evaluating students’ intellectual, academic and emotional functioning.
2.       Meets with teachers, parents and administrators to integrate school and home information, to help formulate recommendations for appropriate program decisions and modifications which may accommodate students’ individual learning styles.
3.       Helps students understand and cope with information about his/her learning style and any changes during various stages of development.
 
COUNSELING ACTIVITIES:
1.       Provides individual assessments for the purpose of evaluating students’ intellectual academic and emotional functioning.
2.       Provides individual group counseling in response to a specific adjustment issue pertaining to specific developmental stages.
3.       Counsels students relative to leaving school and/or terminating their education and makes appropriate referrals for at-risk and alternative educational placement.
4.       Maintains counseling log and case notes.
 
CONSULTATION/COLLABORATION ACTIVITIES:             
  1. Collaborates with teachers and parents by developing appropriate behavior management strategies for a particular student or group of students.
  2. Provides information and support to teachers and parents on the inclusion of students with specific disabilities in the regular classroom setting.
  3. Makes appropriate referrals to appropriate mental health, medical social services or community agencies when deemed necessary.
  4. Serves as a resource person to staff, students and parents.
 
CRISIS INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION ACTIVITIES:               
  1. Provides support and coping strategies to students in personal crisis.
  2. Helps guide the process of coping if major school-wide crisis arise and provides support and guidance during that period of time.
  3. Helps students resolve conflicts and supports students in peer mediation techniques.         
  4. Works with students and school personnel to prevent or limit the impact of potential challenges which may occur during the school year.
  5. Participates in the early identification of students’ potential difficulties.
 
SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST                                                                                                                              
 
 
 
MONITORING ACTIVITIES:        
  1. Maintains student records as assigned, protects confidentiality.
  2. Counsels students relative to academic process, deficiencies, summer school requirements and promotional/credit issues.
  3. Monitors student attendance.
  4. Monitors student progress for parents by overseeing progress reports.
 
MEETINGS AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:
  1. Participates in IEP team meetings and other student review meetings.
  2. Participates in Special Education Department meetings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Staff Conferences and In-Service Programs.
  3. Assumes responsibility for continued professional development by attending conferences and workshops.
  4. Assists in the orientation of students and parents.
  5. Maintains professional affiliations.
  6. Maintains appropriate certification.
  7. All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
 
EVALUATION:
The Director of  Special Education will evaluate the performance of this position.

Full time, school year.
