Welcome to the Special Education Department for the Southeastern Regional School District. Special Education services are available to students who have been identified with disabilities and require specialized instruction in order to make effective progress in accessing the curriculum. Individualized special education programs (IEP) are cooperatively developed by the student's individual planning team, lead by a TEAM chairperson, which includes parents, teachers, administrators and, when appropriate, a speech and language pathologist, school psychologist, and/or other specialists. These TEAMs make every effort to provide the appropriate special education program to children in a general education setting or in a setting as close to the general education setting as possible.
Southeastern is an inclusive school. As an inclusive community we believe that all students can learn to the best of their ability, with peers who have a variety of strengths and weaknesses. Our teachers, as partners with our students and parents, are invested in helping all students develop their potential. We believe that students and parents choose a Southeastern education because they believe in our mission as a vocational technical high school. We believe that our students are looking to develop the skills needed for a successful career transition, a successful transition to post secondary education and a successful transition to an ever demanding and entirely inclusive society.
The Special Education Department is here to assist students, parents and staff members with the routines and expectations of a regional vocational school as seen through the eyes of a special education student. If, at any time, you have a question or concern regarding your child's progress or IEP do not hesitate to contact your child’s liaison or the Special Education Administrator. They will be happy to assist you with the Special Education process.
