Brockton Teen’s Eagle Scout Project Benefits Southeastern Regional

When 16-year-old Boy Scout Bryan Feeney decided he wanted to become an Eagle Scout, he had to find a suitable project to plan, oversee and execute. Fortunately he didn’t have to look far.

Feeney, a junior at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton, was contacted by Southeastern’s facilities engineer Jim Tassinari about redesigning the school’s parking lot island and flagpole.

“I was pretty confident I could do it with help and knowledge,” Feeney said.

Feeney began planning his project in April with the help of local landscaper Todd White.

Once the plans were made and supplies listed, Feeney next had to solicit sponsors for the project. Sponsors were asked for help with bricks, stone dust, plants, mulch as well as food and drinks for the project day.

With all his sponsors in place, Feeney began the project on June 18. With assistance from his fellow scouts from Troop 5 in Brockton, his family and some friends, Feeney embarked on the one and a half day project.
