Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School Holds Class of 2012 Senior Awards Ceremony

Lt. Col. James Zumwalt flew in to present the 1st Annual Zumwalt History Award in honor of his parents, Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr. and Mouza Zumwalt, to Scott Roberts of Mansfield
It was a night of generous giving, remembrance and celebration as 78 seniors at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School received 109 scholarships and awards at the Class of 2012 Senior Awards Ceremony on May 22, 2012. Scholarships will be used to help students defray the cost of attending a post-secondary institution for continued education, while students entering the workplace after graduation will utilize their “toolship” awards to assist them with purchasing tools necessary to perform work in their specific vocational field.

Christina Guarini, Director of Guidance, welcomed and thanked the students for their hard work and dedication, and their families for raising young people who are not only excellent students, but genuinely good individuals. On behalf of the appreciative students, families and school community, recognition and appreciation was extended to tonight’s generous sponsors for making the evening possible.

“Tonight is about three things: excellence, hard work and generosity that get you to where you need to be”, highlighted Principal David Wheeler.

Superintendent Luis Lopes recognized school committee members and also thanked the countless sponsors for their generosity, including Mr. William Wainwright, a dedicated scholarship sponsor who worked hard to see students got what they needed. A moment of silence was observed to remember him and others who were memorialized through scholarships and awards.
