The Southeastern Boys Track & Field team won the league championship meet against all schools within the Mayflower league with a score of 176. The Southeastern Girls Track & Field team placed second overall in league with a score of 99. The most amazing performances came at the end of the meet when all Southeastern relay teams (girls and boys), both 4 x 100 and 4 x 400, placed first. Romani Alicea, Gabe Etim, and Ollie Akinwunmi all qualified for states today in the 110 hurdles and MaCayla Middleton qualified for states in the javelin with a throw of 93′ 1 “. It was a great day to be a hawk!
The Hawks Varsity Baseball team defeated Tri-County with a score of 5-4 in walk-off fashion. Tommy Jasmin pitched 6 and a third innings striking out 7. Teigan Mitchell then came in relief, retiring the next two batters and earning the win. In the bottom of the 7th, Teigan Mitchell drove in the game winning run for the Hawks on a double to left field. Kyle Major had two hits for the Hawks and Tommy Jasmin also had two hits and three RBI. Griffen Bethune caught a solid game behind the plate and Billy McGrath was yet again stellar defensively as he made several great catches to keep the Hawks in the game. A great team win!
The Junior Varsity baseball team won another dramatic game yesterday, defeating Tri-County by a score of 7-5. Jonathan Alves, Kyle Cummings and Josh Piesco pitched a great game, striking out 8 with just 2 walks allowed. Hitting stars included Cummings, Alves, Sam Leard, Matt Kinch, John Daddona and Xavier Mangual. In the last inning, Kory Kinney and John Daddona made great catches in the outfield to save the day. The JV Hawks now have 5 wins with just one loss on the season.
