The PSAT (or Practice SAT) is an invaluable tool for helping students prepare for the SAT – a standardized test that is often required for the college admissions process. Information on the PSAT is included below. For more detailed information, please visit The College Board’s PSAT pages. The PSAT can be taken either in a student’s sophomore year or junior year during the month of October. Students should contact the high school in their sending district and inquire about availability and timing of taking the PSAT. The SAT is typically taken for the first time during the Spring of a student’s junior year so it is highly recommended that students take the PSAT as a sophomore if at all possible.
