Work has begun on the $32 million expansion and renovation project at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton, with students doing some of the work to hone their construction skills and save money on the project.
The Easton-based Southeastern Regional Building Committee originally applied for funding from the Massachusetts School Building Authority in 2007. Last December, the MSBA said it would reimburse 80 percent of the estimated cost. The school is responsible for the other 20 percent. read more...

Former teachers saluted by Southeastern students
(EASTON, MA) --Twenty students at Southeastern Regional Vocational-Technical High School paid tribute to their past teachers last week, leaving the teachers with memories they described as “priceless.”
The ceremony was the culmination of an “Excellence in Education” program, in which freshmen wrote essays that described why they appreciated their former teachers. This is the third year of the program, and over 500 letters were submitted.

Since starting Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School’s lacrosse program four years ago, coach Matt Lefsky said his team manager had gotten used to juggling the four jobs necessary to keep on top of things each game.
That all changed on April 15 when the Medas family of Norton donated an electronic scoreboard to the team. The new board can keep track of time, scores, periods, and substitutions, all with the touch of a remote control.

The Southeastern Regional School Committee voted Tuesday night to create an impact statement regarding the South Coast Rail and its effects on the district and the school's campus.
The decision came after the U.S. Army corps of Engineers proclaimed the Stoughton route as the state's best option for the South Coast rail which would connect Boston to New Bedford and run through Easton, Stoughton and other South Shore communities. read more...

The Southeastern Regional School District plans to construct a $33 million addition to its high school with no increase in assessments to member communities, the school's business manager says.
Business Manager Mark Morris said the district anticipated an 80 percent state reimbursement for the fix-up and expansion of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School.
He said the district's nine town and cities pay a combined $192,000 for capital projects as part of their annual assessments. read more...

Army National Guard Sergeant Richard Pike had no idea why he had been called to the collision repair technology shop at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School last week, and he feared the worst.
All he could think of, as the seconds ticked down to a surprise “reveal’’ for Pike last Thursday, was that his wife, Jean, must have crashed his trusty Dodge pickup truck while he was away on a service tour in Afghanistan.
